This is the document I wrote up to aspect the Warrior in our 2007 Soul Song Ritual. Of course, the Warrior took and modified it in the moment, but there’s a lot of good stuf here to meditate upon.
— Daniel
I am the Warrior
forceful and precise.
Grown excellent through
self-discipline.
I am in you. You are in me.
We are brothers, ready to battle
ready to stand ready forever in peace.
I deeply love being with you,
in excellence & readiness & comraderie.
Stand firm upon this Earth
Do not be weakened by doubt
or anxiety.
Do not be taunted into battles
which are not your own.
Do not turn from battles which
you know are yours.
Stand strong, ready and relaxed.
I expect much of you
and will provide all that you need.
I expect you to sacrifice
to follow through on your word,
and to finish that which you begin.
Do you doubt yourselves? That is the shadow of the Warrior.
You are excellent for I am in you.
Together we will succeed easily.
Even when we feel alone.
Warriors are never alone. We always
have comrades.
Look for them. Look for me.
I am yours:
take me; touch me; love me;
fear me.
Yes, be frightened of where
I lead, and of what
I am capable,
But do not falter.
For you are the same as I.
Just as strong. And just as decisive.
You have grown into the Light
this first half of the cycle gone by.
Now we enter the dark.
From now on,
we work for the community.
Isn’t it wonderful to kill?
Yes. It is:
to desire it;
to feel out power to destroy;
to know ourselves unstoppable,
blood-spattered, superb.
We don’t tell our communities this.
Though they can feel this
our power
in us.
Our rage entirely in our own hands.
to do with as we choose.
Sacrifice this power.
To your people and
to your cause.
The pleasure of destruction — give it!
The pleasure of hatred — burn it up!
Of love, just as large! Contribute that.
To your people, this energy of Warrior:
Given.
Build now strength into yourself,
your world, your communities.
Open to this strength, this knowledge, this steadfastness, this willingness: of Warrior.
Bring it home.
When we are done with our work —
standing guard, polishing our skills,
perfecting our weapons
or entering the chaos of battle
for the sake of those whom
and that which
we love,
We will come home again.
Together.
Even the dead ones.
They are here too.
They belong with us.
I will remember always
what you have done in my name
and for me.
Our honor will live forever.
In peace and power.
In the experience of glory.
And our peoples
will forever be safe
and strong.
